Frequently Asked Questions

  • If you’re here and looking at my website or doing internet searches for a therapist, you’re ready! There is no idea time outlined for when. You may also stop and start therapy multiple times over your lifetime and that’s perfectly fine.

  • Read about the different types of therapy I offer HERE.

  • You won’t know until you try. I provide a free 20 minute phone consultation for you and I to speak and discuss the therapeutic process and what to expect. After that phone call you may want to meet with me a couple of times and then decide I’m not the right fit for you, that’s OK. Sometimes you have to try out a couple different therapists before finding the right one.

  • Yes – we will meet once or twice to gather your individual history, but most of our time will be working together on the goals the two of you have outlined.

  • That really depends on your desire and goals. Some people want to resolve a presenting issue and be done with therapy, while others will want to have a long standing therapeutic relationship where they can check in as needed to accomplish therapeutic goals over many years. I’m here for you as long as you need.

  • That will be a decision for you, and therapy can stop, start and pause along the way. Usually, once clients have accomplished their therapeutic goals, they may take a break and come back over time with new goals or end altogether.

  • I prefer to see clients in person whenever possible, as I believe the therapeutic relationship works well when I can take into consideration all the nonverbal cues as well as what the client is saying. However, virtual sessions are available.

  • Typically 50 minutes, sometimes 80 minutes, and new this year, I’m offering 3 hour intensives on an as needed basis, determined by the two of us, dependent on goals and needs.

  • I will defer to you whether you want to acknowledge me and am not offended if you prefer not to acknowledge me. Whatever makes you most comfortable will work for me.

  • No, I do not, however, I do accept Health Savings Accounts/Flexible Spending Accounts as payment and can provide a SuperBill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

  • Not at all, several of my clients do not share the same beliefs as I do, and we work well together. I respect other beliefs and simply offer my Faith based perspective as an option for those seeking this in therapy.

  • It’s not dissimilar to regular couples counseling, we just add the biblical lense to view our relationship and make decisions, as well as incorporate prayer and our personal faith into our work together.
